Cougar Football Returns to Pullman in September With the start of the 2008 Cougar football season less than two weeks away, Washington State University officials are reminding fans, friends and alumni returning to Pullman to be aware of the many changes they will see in and around Martin Stadium. Steve Broussard Chat Transcript Steve Broussard, Washington State University running backs and special teams coach, and member of the 1988 Aloha Bowl Champion Cougars, will be featured in the next edition of Cougar Chats, presented by Northwest Dodge Dealers, Thursday, Sept. 4, at 11:30 a.m. Cougars Open Conference Slate Saturday Against California The Washington State Cougars (0-1) begin the Pullman portion of its schedule Saturday when they host California (1-0) in the Pacific-10 Conference opener for both teams in a game telvised by FSN northwest at 3:30 p.m. The Cougars are looking for their first win under first-year head coach Paul Wulff while the Bears are aiming for their fourth straignt win in the series. Cougars Fall in Season Opener The Cougars trailed 18-0 before star receiver Brandon Gibson, who finished with six catches for 53 yards, made a twisting catch in the end zone off a 9-yard pass from Gary Rogers. Alfred Named to Rotary Lombardi Award Watch List Washington State junior center Kenny Alfred was named to the Rotary Lombardi Award Watch List, the award committee announced recently. Cougars Set to Open Season Saturday Against Oklahoma State The Paul Wulff era officialy begins Saturday when the Washington State Cougars host the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the Cougar Gridiron Classic at Qwest Field in a game televised by FSN at 12:30 p.m. Cougar Defense Highlights Scrimmage The Washington State University football team held its second and final scrimmage of fall camp Friday at Martin Stadium, and the defense led the way for the Cougars. |
